This research evaluated the facets of the Golden Age of Piracy (1650-1730) and developed a framework by which to measure just such a golden age. It was then applied to the thriving of the Baratarian pirates of the New Orleans and Barataria Bay led by the Laffite brothers from 1808 to 1815 and charted their fame and fame leading up to and following the Battle of New Orleans on January 8, 1815.
