Digital History

Along with my studies in the Ph.D. in History program at ASU, I completed a Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities in December 2022. With a background in Educational Technology, a personal passion for technology as a way to share information in an engaging way (particularly with the public), and my passion for technology as part of the pedagogy I am excited to build skills in all aspects of digital humanities including virtual and augmented reality, text mining and analysis, coding, app development, and data and network visualization.

Project for CDH 501: Introduction to Digital Humanities, Spring 21, Arizona State

For my semester project in Introduction to Digital Humanities, I used Ancestry.com data to collect quantitative data points from the Port of New Orleans Slave Ship Manifests from 1818-1821. On this site, I discuss the process of collecting data, working with what is available, learning how to use Tableau Public, and how some important considerations for digital humanities and digital history projects are applied in this small-scale project.

U.S. Census Data Map

This is a project I created in 2018 using US Census data to generate a heatmap of the US population from 1790 to 2000.
